Stump Movers – Tree Stump Removal (Grinding) Process
What to Expect from the Professionals at Stump Movers when you have accepted and wish to Proceed with Your Quote.
Upon proceeding with your quote, we conduct a thorough site inspection to identify any hazards, including hidden pipes and power lines, ensuring a safe operation.
Step 1: Arrival
After scheduling a convenient date and time post quote acceptance, we aim to arrive as planned. Should there be any delays, we will inform you in advance. We will of course need sufficient space to park our van and unload our stump grinding machine using heavy duty ramps.
Step 2: Preparation
We conduct a thorough site inspection to identify any hazards, including hidden pipes and power lines, ensuring a safe operation. Then if the stump is not cut close to the ground, we will trim it down to minimise wood chips and save time and any offcuts are left on site.
Step 3: Stump Grinding Setup
Our stump grinding machine, mounted on rubber tracks to distribute weight evenly, is positioned near the stump. This setup minimises lawn damage, even in wet conditions.
Step 4: Safety Measures
Protective screens are installed around the work area to safeguard the area, to contain wood chips and guard against flying debris.
Step 5: Stump Grinding – Initial Phase
The machine features a spinning disc with tungsten carbide teeth that efficiently shear wood into small chips as it sweeps across the stump.
Step 6: Stump Grinding – Completion Phase
The machine continues to make progress, deepening with each sweep until the desired depth is achieved, before restarting the cycle.
Step 7: Mulch and Site Cleanup
The resulting wood chips mixed with soil are left on site. This mixture serves as excellent mulch or compost, enriching the soil or suppressing weeds.
Step 8: Restoration
Once the mulch is removed or distributed, the area can then be filled with topsoil and finished with new turf or seeds, leaving no trace of the stump.
Limited Access Solutions
For narrow access areas, a minimum clearance is required for the stump grinding machine to gain access of 35″ / 89cm as a minimum. For extremely tight spots, smaller grinders are available, though stump size limitations apply. Please discuss your specific needs with us to explore feasible solutions.
